Judging from our supplies, you'd think we were planning a longer trip! It's amazing how much stuff one cannot live without for two days! :)

Sondra and I pause in our packing for a pre-camping photo.

Our journey took us to Sulphur Springs camp in the hill country, where Sondra had camped in the past. It was a perfect setup for us. Secluded enough to be peaceful, but with a Mom and Pop camp store nearby to supply us with emergency S'mores provisions.

Sondra and I have a similar philosophy in that part of the fun of camping is getting your camp set up just the way you like it. One of my favorite pieces of camping gear is our amazing Coleman camping kitchen. See it in the background? Who says you have to leave the kitchen sink at home??!!

After setting up our tents, we decided to start the day off right with some Margaritas. Kearson's folks got us a super nifty hand crank blender and this was our first chance to try it out. It worked great and the 'ritas sure hit the spot. Kearson is a most excellent "extreme" mixologist.

Later in the day we hiked over to the springs for which the campground is named. Kearson and I kept laughing about the name. We have a running joke in our family about names of places that roll off the tongue but describe less than desireable real estate. It all started with "Bog View Estates" across from my parent's house in Washington. Later came "Dusty Flats" (West Texas) and "Cricket Canyon" (infested with locusts). Anyhow, Sulphur Springs fit right in, and as the camp store owner put it, "It's a little smelly, but it really keeps the chiggers away!" Perfect. The water was nice and cold, anyhow. And it wasn't so smelly that we didn't want to soak our feet a bit.

Rob hangs out around camp after our hike. Doesn't he have a great camping hat?

What would camping be without some camp songs? Here I am just getting warmed up, but Sondra and I sang ourselves silly later that night. Kearson says he thought we were at it for three or four hours. I say, maybe it just SEEMED like that long to him! :)

Just as primitive people have done throughout the ages, Sondra carries back provisions to camp on her head. :) Luckily, marshmallows are somewhat lighter to carry than, say, a buffalo. Thank goodness for the camp store!!
