Kara the cutie in her blue swirls and pigtails! I was so happy that Kara decided to come to Carnaval this year! She had thought she might not go because she didn't have much time to work on a costume, and we had missed her last year because she was in Spain. I think we finally convinced her that it is perfectly OK to do Carnaval without going to the costuming extremes that some go to. Dana and I will be the first to tell you that what you wear doesn't matter a bit, so long as it includes a smile and comfortable shoes! Kara told me later that despite putting it together in short order (or maybe because she didn't agonize over it??) this was her favorite costume ever; it's mine too!

Cindy and Kris (Jon's cousin and sister) couldn't join us for the pre-Carnaval photos. But they sure looked HOT and HOT! It was their first Carnaval and we had so much fun the weeks before the party at the slumber party and taking trips to the Bazaar hunting for costume ideas. Cindy borrowed my headdress from two years ago and some of the other accessories, but then personalized her makeup and outfit to create a whole new look from it. It was cool seeing one of my designs get used again. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pink on pink wig that Kris picked out. I think she should just get her hair dyed that way. Come to think of it, she DID put a little hot pink stripe in her hair a few weeks ago and it looks great! You go, Kris!

We are just getting to know Jennifer after Nate introduced us a while back, and the more we know, the more we LIKE! :) She came to the slumber party and just jumped right in. The result is was an incredible, lighted Autumn goddess headdress. Don't you LOVE how she made her eye makeup match the leaves in her headdress? Fabulous!

Mid and full length shots of the Autumn Goddess. Check out the amazing sleeves she made! I'm not sure if she sewed them or used glue, I'll have to ask. If she sewed them I am totally impressed - that shimmery sheer chiffon is a bear to work with!

Ha! Revenge for escaping the group shot - Jon takes a self portrait! Jon borrowed a hat I'd used for halloween one year. It lights up with a skull that cackles and plays spooky music. Yeah - I think everyone needs a hat like that, don't you??

Here are some full length shots of me taken by Dana at the Statesman studio a week prior. Dana came along solely to lend me some "moral support" at the photo shoot. She's such a good friend!! You can see that I "dumbed down" my costume a bit for the masses by using a piece of the blue fabric as a bandeau top instead of wearing my pasties (wouldn't want to offend anyone by showing that last 4 inches of skin between my breats, now would we!).
