J9 turns 30 - Craziness ensues!

Kearson and Sondra helped plan a fantastic 30th birthday bash for me at our house this year. We showed an outdoor movie in the yard (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) and I completely destroyed a HUGE Hello Kitty pinata that Sondra got for me. We also had a margarita machine and a pony keg of my latest FAVORITE beer - Franziskaner Hefeweissen (mmmm....beer). I suspect this may have directly contributed to the fact that many of the pictures taken during the party could not be posted in good conscience. (Note to self: margarita machines only require TWO fifths of tequila, not three!!) I am pretty sure a good time was had by all, though my memory is a bit fuzzy on the whole thing. Must be the old age setting in. ;)

As you can see, Sondra and Dana went nuts at Party Pig getting me PowerPuff Girls party decorations. The tablecloth came with a spinner and is actually a giant game board (we never did get around to playing with it - too many other toys). There were pink, purple, and blue balloons everywhere! The cats continued to pop these (scaring the living daylights out of themselves and me each time) over the course of the next several days after the party. I finally ended up going on a balloon popping rampage armed with a pushpin before we went on vacation. Also note the super cool PPG twisty straw in my PPG cup. In addition to the PPG decorations, they also got some really neat Hello Kitty decorations that we hung from the trees outside. They had a long strip of foil that was twisted in a spiral so that the Hello Kitty medallion at the end spun round and round in the breeze.

Sondra brings out the PPG cake for me.

Here I am blowing out the MANY candles on my cake. I was so pleased that the candles were NOT the relighting kind. (Begin rant here) Ok, those WERE a funny joke on the Bday person (about 15 years ago), but then every birthday party had to have them and everybody KNOWS by now that they are trick candles when they see sparks shooting off of them, so let's all just stop using them for anyone over the age of 10, okay?!!? (end of rant) The cake, which was also PowerPuff Girls, was delicious! And if I ever forget what it looked like, I can always just look on my fridge...

...where somebody (we'll call her "Marga-RITA" in honor of her choice of drinks that evening) plastered the cake topper covered in frosting to the door. You can see here Dana trying desperately to stop her with a unique tactic of giggling, clapping, and licking frosting from her fingers. As this method was unsuccessful, the topper shall probably remain there until I move, get a new fridge, or it falls off on its own (not very likely since there was ALOT of frosting to hold it on there).

Look at all the special birthday girl jewelry I am wearing!! Dana and Sondra got me the HUGE, turquoise, dolphin covered party necklace. Kearson got a TON of the small glowsticks you see as bracelets on my wrists and in Dana's hair in the previous picture, but for ME he got the big pink glowstick around my neck. Isn't he sweet? The scarf around my neck was my blindfold for the pinata. Yes, I actually WORE all this finery all night!

Here is Sondra's friend Jason playing with one of the paratrooper toys that came out of the head of Hello Kitty. Later in the evening, Jason entertained those of us not watching the movie by playing his guitar. We had so much fun singing along. It was a real treat for me to have my friends around singing because this is what my family does whenever we get together. Thanks Jason and hooray for Sondra for inviting him!

I love this picture of Tim in his super cool party hat. You can see in the background one of the legs of the Hello Kitty pinata - which was ripped from its owner earlier in the evening by the birthday girl. I should hopefully have some action photos of the actual Hello Kitty massacre when I get the rest of my film developed. I am told it was quite a spectacle. Who knew it would be so cathartic to rip open the head of a giant paper cat??!!

Here I am opening presents on the stairs. Did I tell you how wonderful the house looked? Dana let me borrow her disco ball (you can see it there behind me) and it made wonderful sparkly patterns on the walls. Anyone who asked what they should get me was told to give me plants (which I LOVE but unfortunately have a hard time keeping ALIVE, unless I keep them at work). Only one of the plants I got for my birthday has died so far!!

Later on, I got this gorgeous card from Jamie. I love mermaids!

Here I am getting my 30 spankings from Rita and Dana. (a spanking, a spanking!!)

Do you think Mike had a good time at the party?

That's it for now. More pictures to come once the rest of the film is developed. All in all, it was a great way to celebrate another year of my life!

UPDATE 10.06.02: More birthday pictures, including the whole Pinata debacle are HERE!
