Girls Night Out and other mis-adventures!

Not all of the following photos are related (I'm being lazy about creating separate pages for just a few pictures! I'm sure you'll forgive me!). The first set are from a much-needed Girls' Night Out. There are a few from Earth Day and finally some goofy photos of Kearson and my first 10k run.

So, finally, after talking about it for forever, Dana got everyone organized (as she is apt to do) and we had a fantastic Girls' Night Out in downtown Austin. Sondra, Dana and I met at Dana's house beforehand. (Can you see the top of Lila's head, too? She wanted to be in the photos, but not really IN the photo's. :)

Me and Sondra. It is a nice picture of us, but mostly I'm including this photo so you can see my super-cute SHOES!!! I just recently wore them to work for what will probably be the last time before my feet swell up from the pregnancy and I can only wear sensible (read: not-near-as-cute) shoes. Sigh.

We started out at Oslo, meeting up with a bunch of other ladies and feeling just fabulous as heads turned when we arrived. We later discovered that it was Lesbian Happy Hour! LOL!! This explained the attention we were getting and that it was all from women! Of course it didn't bother us at all, and we had some drinks and took a spin out on the dance floor. I think Dana and Sondra would make a cute lesbian couple, don't you?

After Oslo, we went a few more places, and ended up dancing at the Red Fez. Sondra, Dana, and (making a funny face from behind) Chrystal carve up the dance floor. I LOVED Dana's bright red lipstick this night. Amazingly, I never saw it on her teeth, though she later confided that when she go home she was so exhausted that she fell asleep on her couch with her makeup on and when she woke up it was ALL OVER! A few weeks before this, she had worn the same dress, but with a jet-black bobbed wig and we went to the 4-Seasons for cocktails and to maybe see some celebrities in town for South By Southwest. She looked VERY MUCH like Catherine Zeta Jones and I caught a couple of patrons doing a double-take! Dana's so fab. The only celeb we spied was Lance Armstrong - he asked to use one of the chairs at our table, but we were saving it for Sondra so we had to tell him no. Sorry, Lance!! We didn't feel too bad, though, as we figured the hotel would very likely find an extra chair SOMEWHERE for the 7-time Tour de France winner.

Girlz gone WILD! Well, maybe it was just Dana. ;) Sondra, Chrystal, her friend Brianna, Dana and Kara. And in the background: random boy and Monica. We had a nice big group of girls. Chrystal looked so different from when I'd last seen her at Carnaval, that I didn't even recognize her at first back at Oslo!

Another fun event this spring was Earth Day. Jon's sister Kris was very involved in the planning so we decided to go check it out! Little did we know we'd encounter the mighty Triceratops!!

When wrestling the beast to the ground proved futile, Sondra decided to charm him instead with a smoochy. Who wouldn't be charmed??

Sondra and Jon enjoy the blue twilight. Sondra and I stayed a bit later to listen to more music and we even managed to Jeti Mind Trick our way backstage where I fell ever-so-slightly in love (or maybe it was just the beer) with a guitar player named John who was sitting in with Alejandro Escovedo. He was nice enough to chat a bit after the show and we had a fun conversation.

The final set of photos on this page are of Kearson and I at the Capitol 10K (well afterwards, anyway). But first - I must ask, has anyone EVER NOT looked like a complete DORK in a bicycle helmet? Just something I was wondering...

Anyhow, as I was saying - we ran the Capitol 10k. It was SUPPOSED to be with a big group of people, who shall remain nameless, who later all decided to go have BRUNCH instead. But we won't DWELL on that minor detail as we are rubbing our sore legs with IcyHot. ;) Here's a self portrait of Kearson in his hard-won T-shirt post race.

Me in my running garb re-enacting my dramatic crossing of the finish line. I think we did pretty well for first timers, coming in at a little over 1 hour 13 minutes.
