We spent some time with Kearson's folks in North Idaho. One day we went out to Green Bay - a favorite family camping trip spot on Lake Pend O'reille.

Another view from Green Bay. This time, we drove in. A few years ago my folks picked up Kearson's and we boated in.

However you get there, no trip to Green Bay would be complete without a leap off of the cliffs into the lake - if you're Kearson, that is! Me - I'm way too cautious to do such a thing.

The next day, we drove into Montana to do some sight seeing. It was gorgeous and I couldn't resist getting a picture of the "Big Sky" for which the state is famous.

Our journey took us to "Lost Cedars" - a stand of old growth cedar trees. Some of the trees grow together forming weird and beautiful shapes!

Marion and I pose in a hollowed-out giant cedar.

So many shades of green in a place like this - it's amazing! When I get to missing the Northwest, these "greenscapes" are some of the scenery I miss the most. If pictures could capture smell, you'd smell the cool crisp evergreens, running water and damp earth.

A fire went through the grove at some point burning out the center of this tree. Here are views from inside and outside the shell, which is amazingly still growing and green on top!

Kearson is stumped. Groan - sorry, couldn't resist!

One of our best evenings in Sandpoint was spent on John and Janice's houseboat. We packed a picnic dinner and then watched the sun set over the lake with John, Janice, Kearson's folks and Grandma. Can you say "relaxing"? Kearson and I dream of having a boat like this and living on the lake as our summer home. We just have to figure out how to get high-speed internet on it! ;)
